California is moving towards legalizing lane splitting for motorcycles, and the advocacy site KeepHighwaysSafe.org believes Pennsylvania should follow suit.

Statistics indicate that lane splitting may improve safety for both motorcyclists and drivers. A recent University of California study reviewed 6,000 accidents and found that motorcyclists who were lane splitting were:

  • Less likely to have a passenger
  • Driving at lower speeds
  • Wearing better helmets
  • Less likely to suffer extreme injuries

When driving, just make sure to remember that motorcyclists have the same rights, privileges and responsibilities as every other driver.  Visit KeepHighwaysSafe.org to learn more about how we’re advocating for safer highways in Pennsylvania.
