Ewing Secured First High School NIL Deal in Maryland After Rule Change

ROCKVILLE, MD, April 13, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — College HUNKS Hauling Junk and Moving®, the award-winning moving and junk removal franchise and national leader in NIL deals for student-athletes, is again making history with their recently signed endorsement deal with high school volleyball standout, Alexis Ewing. This endorsement marks one of the first for high school athletes in Maryland, as the state recently opened NIL opportunities for high school students.

On April 11, 2023 at the NIL signing took place at 603 Southlawn Lane in Rockville. Ewing’s parents, NBA Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing and former All-American volleyball player Cheryl Weaver, accompanied her to the signing event.

“We are thrilled to partner with Alexis and help support her journey as a student-athlete,” said Nick Friedman, Co-Founder of College HUNKS. “This sponsorship allows us to uphold our values of supporting our communities and building leaders. Having started our company in the D.C. area, this feels like passing a torch to the next generation. As a father of three daughters, I think this helps open the door for female student-athletes to be empowered and learn about entrepreneurship.”

At 15 years old, Ewing is already 6’4″ and can jump to touch nearly 11′. She has competed with the USA Junior National Team and is ranked Top 20 nationally in her class of 2025. As part of the deal, she will receive a signing bonus to become a student-athlete brand ambassador for the company. She will be further incentivized with opportunities to help College HUNKS recruit employees and clients. Further, she and her teammates will be provided leadership development opportunities and paid internship opportunities during the offseason.

David Falk, a famous sports agent for Patrick Ewing and other major stars, including Michael Jordan, is the one who previously had to break the bad news to the Ewing family when he was asked to review the proposal from College HUNKS. Previously, you could lose your high school eligibility for signing a NIL deal in Maryland. Once the law was passed, the brand jumped on the opportunity to finally sign Ewing.

“We reached out to Nick and College HUNKS because we knew they are doing things the right way with their NIL partnerships,” stated her parents, Patrick Ewing and Cheryl Weaver. “We are excited for our daughter to learn entrepreneurship and leadership skills from this partnership that will help her through her career on and off the Volleyball court.”

College HUNKS has been at the forefront of endorsing student-athletes since the NCAA passed a policy that opened these opportunities for student-athletes. Their endorsement deals include University of Miami Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke, the San Diego State Football team, the Howard University Men’s Basketball team, the University of Central Florida Women’s Basketball team, the Stony Brook Men’s Basketball team, the University of Florida Women’s Gymnastics Team, and now Alexis Ewing.

College HUNKS Hauling Junk & Moving® was initially founded by two college buddies with a beat-up cargo van and now has more than 200 franchises providing full-service tech-enabled residential and commercial moving, junk removal, donation pickups, and labor services in the United States as well as Canada. H.U.N.K.S., which stands for Honest, Uniformed, Nice, Knowledgeable, Service, is a socially conscious, values-based organization with a national partnership with U.S. Hunger, which strives to end childhood hunger.
